I think T. Susan Chang did this because she wants to explain to the world the simplicity and effectiveness of analog. She says we are being consumed by the electronic world, basically becoming robotic by not appreciating the subtle mistakes and smudges we make on paper that makes us human. She makes herself the example of how peaceful the analog lifestyle can be after she, herself, was consumed by electronics.
